SONY 3.41 UPDATE OF THE PS3 FIRMWARE

Sony has released update‘3.41’ firmware on July 27 to fix a major flaw found in the original 3.41 of the PS3’s firmware. The previous 3.41 firmware was causing some ‘disquieting error message’ for those that manually upgraded their console’s hard drive. But oddly, this is a new firmware but Sony did not give it a new naming. Nevertheless, their prompt action is better than some fruit company.

Writing on the PlayStation blog, Sony wrote: “We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused, and appreciate your understanding and continued support.”

Colin McRae’s era might be nearing the end when he passed away, as we can see that Ken Block’s starting to replace him when it comes to rally icons. I should be very ashamed of myself when I say that I haven’t played finish my DiRT 2 courtesy of ATI, but Codemasters doesn’t seemed to want to wait for me. They’ve already started working up on the next game, DiRT 3.

Their idea of the next game? Ken Block spinning around like a mad man, Gymkhana, and drifting under a container that just exploded. Yeah, you’ll be able to test your drifting skills in a ‘Gymkhana’ like mode. I just hope that container won’t keep on exploding in that game in a repetitive style. But the good thing is, racing in snow is back! Yesh! The game’s coming in 2011 and is unveiled during the X Games, though the exact date is not mentioned.

UAE HAVE ANNOUNCED BANS SOME BLACKBERRY FUNCTIONS

Saudi Arabia is to prevent the use of the Blackberry-to-Blackberry instant messaging service. The United Arab Emirates’ Telco went for a review on RIM’s BlackBerry and notice that they weren’t able to monitor how people were using their BlackBerrys. Therefore, to counter the said revelations, their solutions were rather simple; a ban on few of the BlackBerry’s features. The UAE ban is to start in October, while the Saudi move will begin later this month.

"TRA said some Blackberry services would be suspended from 11 October "until a solution compatible with local laws is reached".

"It's a final decision but we are continuing discussions with them," said TRA director general Mohammed al-Ghanem.
"Censorship has got nothing to do with this. What we are talking about is suspension due to the lack of compliance with UAE telecommunications regulations."

It follows an alleged attempt by TRA last year to install spyware on Blackberry handsets.

And in 2007 RIM refused TRA access to the code for RIM's encrypted networks so it could monitor email and other data."

A great concept from Intel, Intel is starting to departure from their core business, selling chips, and starts to widen their product range. Intel touchscreen kiosk has created for retailers. Hitting retail stores would be a great idea. The hulk of polished metal, glass, and fibre looks like something from Star Trek universe, but Intel promises to revolutionize our experience with paying things in retail using new concepts that will incorporate touchscreen devices, and some great elements from online stores.

The kiosk will use your credit card to identify who you are, and will trace back your history of purchase and provide recommendations on things that you might want to buy, so that you’ll waste more money. Gee, thanks Intel!

When a customer swipes a card or slides their purchase across the horizontal screen, the display will show the price and payment options –which include the option to pay by cell phone. As you scan the items, the kiosk also makes recommendations on what else you can buy and gives you a quick snapshot of it.

The entire kiosk is powered by Intel’s Core2Duo processors and it uses a solid state drive that helps the overall system work faster and consumes less power than existing registers. The chips also include Intel’s vPro technology, a virtualization technology that Intel builds into the chip itself, to make it secure and easy to manage.

Intel says it retailers don’t have to buy this whole idea as it is. They can pick the pieces they want and integrate it into their existing stores.

DISCOVERY CHANNEL SHARK BUILDING

Discovery Channel’s office building in downtown Silver Spring is going to celebrate of Shark Week 2010, which starts August 1, The Discovery Channel’s office building was transformed into a giant awesome shark building. Five inflatable pieces (head, two side fins, dorsal fin and tail) were hoisted into place by a crane and securely tied down with cables and ropes.

"The inflatable shark, named "Chompie," consists of five pieces - the head, two side fins, a dorsal fin, and a tail. If the shark were real, it would be about 446 feet long from the tip of his nose to the back of his tail, about 113 feet tall from his belly to the top of his dorsal fin, and about 200 feet wide from tip to tip of his side fins -- and he would weigh about 84,000 pounds. The shark is a cold-air inflatable - it must be continuously inflated by air while it is installed on the building. It takes 10 air blowers blowing 2000 cubic feet per minute of air each to keep the five pieces inflated."

Apple has updated its iPhone 4 camera and now has 5-megapixels still frames, HD video, and an LED flash. Vid-Atlantic and OWLE has been working on a combo adapter to attach your iPhone 4 with real lens for DSLR, so that you’re iPhone 4 can take DSLR-quality photos. What started as a quick and less-than-perfect mod by a Jeremy Salvador turned into a great collaboration between 2 companies. The video below is shot using a Canon EF 50mm f1.8 lens and an app called “Almost DSLR” for iPhone.

Nexus one has just sold out from their last Nexus One stock shipment. This means that after this it’ll be hard to get the Nexus One anymore from Google. You’ll still technically be able to get it from Vodafone UK or KT in Korea, but when the supplies will finish is really out of our guess. Though the Nexus One has its ups and downs, and we can safely say it’s not the most successful Android phone out there, but surely everyone loves it when it was released. It’s the only Droid phone to have the vanilla version of the Android on it, as all the others are customized. But then the Nexus One has always been a phone specifically for developers of the Android, and is not targeted for worldwide consumer. The Nexus One surely had lead its role proudly, which sprung the Galaxy S, Droid X, Evo and many other HTC models. But with the Nexus One gone, we can now wait in anticipation for the successor to jump out.

APPLE SOLD 3 MILLION iPHONE4 IN 1ST MONTH

Seeing as of late, Intel and Google has introduced some figures to give themselves a reason to party, Apple has given some figures to show off too. They even invited some friends over to party with them over at the conference. Apple held a conference, and during the conference, perhaps one of the reasons is to show off the amazing figures that they achieved from the sales of the iPhone 4. How does 3 million sounds? That’s 3,000,000, but these are not shocking figures though, as Apple manage to get 1.7 million units sold in the first week.

So, 3 million is nearly double that amount, therefore it’s obvious that sales went down quite a lot actually, compared to the 1st week’s sales, most probably due to supply constraints. Let’s face it, I do not think that antenna issue would hurt the sales at all.

But talking about the antenna issue, Apple has also revealed the return rates for the iPhone 4, 1.7 percent. That’ll be about 51,000 if we take the 3 million amounts. But I bet there are still many that weren’t returned, and instead sold at eBay for profit. I can only imagine Steve Jobs singing this song…

APPLE LAUNCH iOS 4.0.1 SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR iPHONE

Here’s where the iOS 4.0.1 comes in. The only significantly obvious changes would be the changes in the bars displayed. Apple made bar 1 and bar 2 of their signal bar taller. But that is not visually enough to describe the new ‘formula’ that Apple thinks is much better than how the older iOS 4.0 shows it.

It seemed that Apple is too anxious to share with the whole world about the new redesigned signal bars in the iPhone 4, and they can’t wait until the iOS 4.1 to be ready. Therefore, Apple has released the iOS 4.0.1. This update is just up yesterday, and therefore there’s not much known on this update.

When the iPhone 4’s antenna issue went into scrutiny, Apple went on to promise that in a future software update they would make bars 1, 2, and 3 taller, and make the bars more “accurate” by displaying 2 bars fewer in certain circumstances.

APPLE PURCHASED A WEB-BASED MAPPING

Apple has recently purchased a company called Poly9, a firm from Canada. Poly9 makes interactive 3D software designed for use in a browser. A counter attack for Google’s hugely famous and widely used Google Earth application? Or perhaps a gps-like app specifically for Apple’s product? It would seemed suitable for those 5-inch mini iPads that’s coming soon.

Poly9 is not Apple’s 1st mapping service company thought. Placebase was acquired by Apple last year. Poly9 already have an app similar to Google Earth, called the Poly9 Globe project, which is only 303kb and is compatible on all platform. With the two mapping service companies under the same umbrella, it sure will be a force to recon with.

Poly9 still has an office in Quebec, but the report said that it was closed a few weeks ago. The Canadian company has worked with numerous clients in the past, including Apple, as well as Microsoft, Yahoo, MSNBC and NORAD.

GE WATTSTATION SOLVES THE EV CHARGING ISSUES

GE has solved the EV charging issues, by some inch at least. Today they announced the GE Wattstation, in collaboration with Yves Béhar’s Fuseproject. The station has the looks, and functions of electric charging station. But that’s not all; it only requires around 4 hours to fully charging an EV, depending on the car’s battery characteristic.

The design, according to Béhar, is meant to be user friendly and simplicity is in their concept —an LED indicator ring around the top edge is green when the charging point is available, red when it’s not, and blue when it’s in use. In addition, the pillar is designed with a sloping top meant to shed rain and snow, and in the future, the design will be customizable, so that the charge points can blend in with a city’s street furniture. What’s more, the Wattstation is smart-grid enabled, so that it can respond to the loads on the power grid. It also has, potentially, a greater power output, able to charge a car in as little as 4-8 hours, rather than the 12-16 hours it takes with today’s “Level 1″ chargers.

BOEING UNVEILS HYDROGEN-POWERED PHANTOM EYE

Boeing has introduced the hydrogen-powered Phantom Eye unmanned airborne system that will stay aloft at 65,000 feet for four days. Hopefully nothing happens in this research. It’ll be a waste to see such a fat airplane getting ‘bom bom pow’-ed. But then, hydrogen aircraft can only led me to think of such incidents, no matter how safe you can get it to be.

Still, Boeing is trying out its luck in this hydrogen-powered unmanned aircraft system. It’s called the Phantom Eye, and it’s supposed to be the greenest aircraft out there, as the only power is water.

The aircraft heralds a potential new market in data and communications collection, Boeing says. Later this summer, it will be shipped from Boeing’s Phantom Works facility in St. Louis to NASA’s Dryden Flight Research Center for ground and taxi testing. The debut flight will likely take place next year and should last four to eight hours, a mere preview of the aircraft’s apparent capabilities.

The Phantom Eye only looks fat. And that’s it, it ends there. In terms of power, Phantom Eye is a contender lightweight actually — it has two 2.3 liter, four-cylinder engines that provide 150 hp each, not much more than your average car. This makes sense, because Ford provided the engines, according to a Boeing news release. The plane has a 150-foot wingspan and can carry up to a 450-pound payload, Boeing says. It will cruise at 150 knots, or 274kph (150mph) for you laymen.

It’s the latest effort by Boeing to build aircraft powered by hydrogen. The firm claimed ‘the first’ on a hydrogen fuel cell aircraft back in 2008 when a different Phantom Works division flew a manned aircraft powered by hydrogen fuel cells. How cute is it? Formula One designer Gordon Murray's T.25 City car. Gordon Murray might not be a common name to hear for some of you, but he did developed an impressive vehicle with some very impressive figures environment-wise. T.25 City Car is his child product, and weighting at 1200 pounds, its getting 74mpg with its iStream eigne, a marvelous number. With the price of USD$9,000 it even comes with customizable interior with enough room for three person, with the driver at the center front, while two (albeit petite) people can squeeze in behind the back room. Electric version is on the road map, but comes at a steeper price of USD$18,000. The cars are built using an efficient process that first attaches most of the car’s parts to the chassis, and then adds a pre-painted body as a last step, similar to the way Formula One vehicles are built. If all cars were this size, we'd live in a utopian energy-saving world. The T.25 will be available within two years. Though, I seriously doubt the safety of the design.

"Murray worked as a Formula One designer from 1969-2006. In 2007, he opened the Gordon Murray Design consultancy. He won the "Idea of the Year" award in November 2008 at Autocar Magazine's annual awards ceremony for his proposed manufacturing process (iStream) for the T.25."

eBAY INC GETTING SUED FOR USD$3.8 B.

EBay Inc was supposedly sued by a Connecticut company named XPRT Ventures LLC for infringing a patented payment system similar to ‘PayPal Later’ and ‘PayPal Buyer Credit’. And the amount that it is sued is $3.8b. Yeah, totally massive amount of gold there, but not uncommon for a big size lawsuit. What’s more is that XPRT claimed that eBay is copying XPRT’s system patent into theirs.

“This involves a trade secret theft, along with sheer patent infringement,” said Steven Moore, a partner at Kelley Drye & Warren LLP representing the plaintiff, in an interview. “It is bad enough to take someone’s technology, but it is a bit much to use it in your own patent application.”

XPRT is seeking a least amount $3.8 billion in fiscal damages, based on their estimated present value. It is also seeking treble damages resulting from eBay’s alleged “willful and malicious conduct,” punitive damages, and other remedies.
Well eBay Inc is not the only one getting into trouble. The lawsuit also names eBay affiliates PayPal, Bill Me Later, Shopping.Com and StubHub as defendants.

DEXIA WEATHER TOWER IN BRUSSELS

Here’s called the weather tower by Belgian design studio lab[au] projects. The weather towers require nothing short of 6,000 windows illuminated by 72,000 RGB LEDs that abstractly report the weather. And you start to ponder what that means. Yeah, you get the meaning that it is somehow related to the weather, obviously. But how? It forecast the weather? The weatherman (or scantily clad weather girl) lives in it? No, the building tells you the weather, in a colorful way!

Have a glimpse, and you’ll surely think that’s the hippest place in town, and you bet all the town’s best clubs are in there. Well nobody can actually blame you as it is filled with lotsa blink and neon. And you’ll even think that you’re in Vegas! But not, it’s just a normal building that tells the weather. What?

In 2008, The Dexia Tower in Brussels was transformed into a giant weather report. However the concept was an art, therefore the system does not implement simple integers to tell the weather. Instead, the building emits a nightclub style artwork using the LEDs integrated into the windows. Therefore it needs some getting used to in order to interpret what it is trying to tell. Typical artwork, being so metaphoric as usual.

Now, the uniqueness of the project was that a relatively small number of LEDs produced a relatively large-scale effect. There were only 12, 3-color LEDs within each window, but they emitted their light onto window shades. So whereas the LED-equipped Dexia Tower could have been fitted with the pinpointed LED aesthetic of your home entertainment system, instead it resembled something out of Vegas circa 2025.

But here’s a trivia for you. Due to the economic and financial crisis, the lighting of the Dexia Tower has been drastically reduced. Between sunset and midnight the tower lights burn only 10 minutes per hour.

Many may not know how Hollywood-size studios usually develop 3D films. It not only involves the actors wearing some odd clothes with spots, and a green background. There’s something bigger than the director’s 3D video cam. It’s the bizarre server farms. We’re talking about servers with size of 4 to 8 parking spaces. Not only are they big, but they’re smoking hot! That’s why its bloody costly to develop an animated 3D film, as they AC system has to be working overtime to cool down the farms.

Illumination Entertainment, the company behind Despicable Me, though that it’s too costly to run a server farm that size to render their 3D images and the bills is sky high. Not very feasible for their small company. Therefore, they approach IBM to develop a customized server-farm using the iDataPlex system, and cut away the AC system and the sky-high bill. What IBM came out, is a green server that cuts down energy usage by 40% compared to tradition server farms.

The iDataPlex has two key advantages: a flexible configuration that doubles the amount of systems that can run in a single IBM rack and the ability to run an ambient temperature room (no costly air-conditioning required). The system has been on the market for over a year, but Illumination is the first studio to use it for animated film.

This doesn’t mean that any scrappy-coco studio with a big dream can now produce a high-end 3D animated film though. Illumination used a 330-person team of artists, producers, and support staff to produce 142 terabytes of data. And the rendering farm, which processed up to 500,000 frames per week, was built in conjunction with Mac Guff Ligne, a French digital production studio.

But the iDataPlex gives Illumination a leg up in the graphics rendering process. Illumination Entertainment’s server farm, for example, is the size of four parking spots. That’s half the amount of space the company initially allotted to the farm.

Oftentimes a small studio like Illumination really wants to put their energy behind creating as compelling of content as possible. By minimizing the technological issues associated with building and managing the [rendering] environment, we allow studios to reduce the amount of time, energy, and resources necessary to create an underlying technological platform – Steve Canepa, Vice President, Media & Entertainment Industry at IBM.

It’s a compelling idea for studios—even major ones—that want to cut costs and look environmentally conscious at the same time. IBM is already working with a number of other studios to implement similar solutions. Canepa concedes that studios could build similar systems by purchasing off-the-shelf racks and processors, but the iDataPlex’s unique configuration of servers packs a lot of processing power into a small space—and that’s not easy to replicate. Don’t expect these rigs to be appearing in suburban garages anytime soon.

FALL ASLEEP IN THE CHURCH

"I have an idea," said the minister. "Take this pin with you. I'll be able to tell when she's sleeping, and I will motion to you at specific times. When I motion, you give her a good poke in the leg with the pin."

In church the following Sunday, Mrs. John dozed off. Noticing this, the preacher put his plan to work.

"...And who made the ultimate sacrifice for you?" he said, nodding to Mr. John.

"Jesus!" cried Mrs. John as her husband jabbed her in the leg with the pin.

"Yes, you are right, Mrs. John," said the minister.

Soon, Mrs. John nodded off again. Again, the minister noticed her dozing.

RENAULT DeZir CONCEPT

Renault has introduced details on its upcoming concept vehicle called DeZir. The DeZir (which sounds like ‘desire’ as it is pronounced in French) is meant to convey the new design language of the brand, according to Renault. The Z also stands for zero emissions as the concept is a two-seat coupe with gullwing doors which, like many recent concept cars, is an all-electric vehicle. The DeZir is the first project under the leadership of Laurens van den Acker, Renault's head of design.

The car is powered by an 110 kW (150 PS) and 226 Nm (167 lb-ft) of torque producing mid-mounted electric motor fed by a vertically-placed 24 kWh lithium-ion battery behind the bench seat. The car is said to have a range of 160 km (100 miles). Renault DeZir Press release .

FIRST PHONE WITH INTEL CHIP TO DEBUT IN 2011

It is likely that the first phones with intel chip powered by Intel will debut early next year. The massive smartphone in the photo is an LG GW990 with 5-inch screen. Dual cameras front and back, with capability to record and playback 720P video. 16GB of build-in flash memory, and 512MB of RAM. It’s running on Intel’s Linux-based Moblin OS. These spec doesn’t seemed all that flashy, as the new iPhone 4 already has similar specs and is already on sale. Memories and storage can easily be upgraded as time goes by, but Intel really needs something more up its sleeves if it really wishes to play with the rest of the cool kids.

In May, Intel showed its new chip codenamed Moorestown for mobile devices. The company said the chip would be extremely power efficient, while offering enough processing power for features such as video conferencing and HD video.

Mobile handsets featuring Intel processors are likely to be shown at the Consumer Electronics Show in next January or at the Mobile World Congress conference in February.

“That would clearly be the window of opportunity for us,” Intel CTO Justin Rattner told Wired.com.

Many women are embarrassed to ask their gynecologists about vaginal looseness, enlarged or irregular labia or loss of sexual satisfaction. Many women do not even realize there are surgical techniques to solve their problems.

Research commissioned on cosmetic surgery procedures reveals that 24% of women do not have a sex life due to the appearance of their vagina and subsequently, 22% of women would consider undergoing surgery for a ‘designer vagina.’

Due to an increase in ‘designer surgery’ queries, the UK’s leading online cosmetic treatment review website conducted research of 1,031 women across the UK to discover what extremes women would go to for a ‘designer body.’

The research shows that 1 in 5, 22%, women would like to undergo surgery on their vagina, and 28% would like to have buttock implants.

When asked the multiple choice question ‘Why would you like this procedure done?’ of the women that would like a cosmetic procedure on their vagina, 18% admitted it was because of their ‘confidence’ and 14% said it was to ‘improve their sex life’. While 24% admitting to having not had a sex life due to the appearance if their vagina.

"If a person is unhappy with their appearance than it really can be a hindrance on their confidence"

1 in 3 women, 33%, would consider undergoing a Labiaplasty after giving birth, while a further 26% admit that they would prefer a cesarean childbirth, in order to maintain the appearance of their vagina.

27% of women claim that TV programmes focusing on cosmetic surgery ‘pressure’ them to maintain a ‘designer’ appearance. The research shows that of the 28% of women that would undergo buttock implants, 62% admit to wanting the procedure conducted so they can achieve the ‘celebrity figure.’

The study shows that younger women are more likely to undergo a cosmetic procedure on their vagina, with 26% of women aged between 21 and 30 saying they would undergo a cosmetic procedure on their vagina, compared to 18% of women over 40.

Sony has launched their white knight in a bid to lead their armies and win the console war against the new Microsoft Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii. These new models will be released in Japan on July 29, and for the first time will see the PS3 Slim available in two colours: the existing black and "Classic White".

Tagging along the refresh is a slight increment in HDD capacity. The Cell powered console will have a new 320GB HDD instead of the old 250GB. The standard ‘black knight’ will also have the 320GB upgrade option. There’s also a smaller capacity 160GB version to replace the 120GB older units.

These new model is available for ¥29,980 or approx. USD$340 for the 160GB and ¥34,980 or approx. USD$399 for the premium 320GB offering. At the moment, only Japan is getting this upgrade. There’s no news of launches outside of the country of the rising sun, yet.

"Masculine personality traits also become more desirable for women around their ovulation times. A 2004 study conducted at the University of New Mexico and published in Psychological Science found that ovulating women are attracted to men who display “social presence and direct competitiveness.” When female volunteers were shown videos of men competing for lunch dates, those in the highly fertile part of their cycles reported being more interested in the men who were aggressive and confident. However, that was only in short-term situations; when asked about attractiveness in terms of longer partnerships, they rated less positively.

Some scientists believe this is related to our natural instincts as a procreative species—when we’re most fertile, we look for members of the opposite sex who can provide the best genes (i.e., the strongest, the most symmetrical faces, etc.). But otherwise, supportive figures who nurture and help out become hotter commodities. British and Japanese researchers found that to be true in 1999; their findings, which were published in Nature, showed that right before, during, and after a woman has her period—which is also when she’s least likely to conceive—she’s more attracted to feminine faces than masculine ones. During ovulation, women tend to desire macho, robust men, but after that ship sails, women want men they’re compatible with personality-wise.

So what does all this mean if you’re already with someone? Are you as attracted to your mate if he doesn’t fall under the “man’s man” designation? According to one study, it depends. The aforementioned researchers at the University of Mexico held another study in 2004, this time to see if women lost interest in their partners during their cycles. Results showed that attraction levels only dipped during fertile days if their partners were less attractive (or as they so politely said, had “high fluctuating asymmetry”) in general. The women who were with conventionally attractive men (as in those with symmetrical features) were less likely to be more attracted to men outside of the relationship during ovulation. But overall, the women participating in the study on average just weren’t as attracted to their mates when at their most fertile. Again, this could be because our standards for settling down with someone are different than who we instinctually recognize as carrying good genetic material.

It’s important to note that all of these studies are based on women with regular menstrual cycles. If you’re on birth control, you don’t have the same influx of hormones, and therefore might not experience any differences in attraction levels. But if that’s not the case, see if you notice a surprisingly strong predilection for deep voices, manly smells, male bravado, and typically masculine features like strong chins and brows as you near ovulation. Studies have shown increased attraction to all of these characteristics among women in the later stages of their cycles. Clearly, our hormones like us to mix things up throughout the month and make life a little spicier. And if they say we should spend a few days fantasizing about super-masculine guys who might be all wrong for us any other time of the month, who are we to argue?"

Well, you need not to wait any longer to have your share of 3D. All you need is a pair of anaglyph goggles and a fairly powerful system. Obviously the 3D hype is getting the steam roll. More and more display manufacturers are partnering with other electronic parts manufacturers to market 3D-capable devices and accessories. But then, they all comes with a premium price tag that’s gonna cut throat. Doesn’t seem very feasible to me, especially in such economy. After all, 3D is a hyped-up marketing gimmick, and I assume that it’ll fade away soon when newer technology comes.

Well freed not, as we have a solution for you! There’s an actually rather straight forward way to play games on your computer in 3D. All you need is a pair of anaglyph goggles and a fairly powerful system. iZ3D is actually a manufacturer of 3D-capable monitors, but their drivers are available for free download here. The driver console has an option to turn on anaglyph, which converts all your games to 3D. The driver renders two separate frames, from two slightly different perspectives. This is very similar to the function Nvidia offers with ‘3D Vision Surround’, but Nvidia’s drivers limit you to two Nvidia graphics card the least, and moreover, the latest drivers don’t have support for laptops. iZ3D on the other hand runs on any system, and supports both Nvidia and ATI 3D cards.

With obvious reasons, your computer will need to render every scene twice for each frame, thus there would be a drop of more than 50% in performance. Quantitatively, that means that if your game earlier ran at 30 fps, expect it to run at less than 15 fps. But then this is not always accurate. Though, downsizing the resolution would clearly help a lot in boosting performace. So it would be demanding a lot from your system, if you are running a game like Assassin’s Creed 2 on rig that is anything but extreme-end. However, it’s the lower-end games that will give you a lot of joy.

Setting up is pretty much easy and straight forward. Launch a game, and the iZ3D’s step-by-step wizard starts too. Wait for some rendered graphics (i.e. the actual game, not the menus) to appear on the screen and you’re ready to adjust the settings. The separation between the images can be adjusted and you can check using your goggles what settings look best. Get your settings right, and watch in amazement as the object suddenly seem discrete.

There are some bad sides on using this software though. Although the software itself is nearly flawless, the anaglyph images have their usual drawbacks. The colors are usually washed off and thus image quality drops, nothing like the ones you see in 2D. And as always, you would find yourself a little perplexed after a session of gaming with the goggles on.

This technique of 3D gaming is not new, neither is it the best gaming experience you can have. But it gives you a different experience altogether, something that would fascinate people. The bridge is part of a proposal for the Hong Kong boundary crossing facilities international ideas competition by Dutch, NL architects. The aim for entrants was to create a new landmark to reflect Hong Kong as a vibrant global and metropolitan city called the "Pearl River Necklace Bridge".

The Pearl River Necklace Bridge will be connecting Hong Kong and mainland China. But then, the people in Hong Kong drive on the left side of the lane, while in China they drive on the right side. And that’s how they solve this issue, with a wacky and twisted bridge to change the lanes. Though this bridge does look awesome and full of win, I think there’s many other methods to solve this problem, more effectively, more resource saving, and less complicated to look at. Nevertheless, it’ll be a thrill to drive along this bridge.

Microsoft is pleased to introduce that by the end of July microsoft will be releasing the public beta of Service Pack 1 for Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7. Unlike Vista’s SP1 which is much needed to cover up the ugly things, Windows 7 is rather stable as it is. One of the frustrations of being a Seiko fan is that many of their finest watches are only released to the Japanese domestic market. The new classy contender for 2010 from Seiko at least in the US is the Seiko Ananta Spring Drive Moonphase watch (ref. SNR023). Ananta is a Sanskrit word that means ‘the infinite’. Ananta, the highest-end world model for Seiko has split in two to personalities - sport models and suit models. The Seiko Ananta is a watch designed to deliver a lifetime of delight and satisfaction, as it is supremely comfortable to wear, enjoyable to use and unrivaled in its quality of engineering.

The new "suit" model is the pretty new Spring Drive Moon Phase. The powerfully sophisticated Spring Drive movement now comes with a moon phase complication in the Ananta range. Though this isn't the first time a Moon Phase has been included in a Spring Drive watch. The special "blade" polishing on the 46mm wide steel case is impressive. Despite the glimmer and shine, the watch is very legible. Unlike the sporty models, the bezel is totally mirror polished for a different type of look.

Inside the watch is the Seiko in-house made in Japan Spring Drive 5R67 automatic movement. Functions include the time, date, power reserve indicator, and moon phase. The movement is beautifully decorated and visible through the sapphire caseback window. The front facing crystal over the dial is also sapphire, and coated with AR to reduce glare. Those not familiar with Seiko Ananta collection watches will easily see the superior quality compared to lower priced Seiko watches they may be familiar with. While Seiko still places function and utility first, these are very impressive luxury watches that even impress big shots of the Swiss brands.

Seiko Ananta Spring Drive watches are beautiful to look at and really comfortable. The large hour markers are diamond polished for a fantastic look shine and luxurious appearance. The movement has three days of power reserve and is accurate to about 1 second a day. In Europe, the Ananta Spring Drive Moon Phase will retail for 4,000 euros, with the price in the US being in the same range give or take a bit.

As we do not expect this iPhone 4 to have WiMax support, the naming somehow proved that the next installation for this iPhone 4 would probably have WiMax in it. We’ll have to live through to see whether its true or not.

Apple also claimed that they’ve greatly improved on the camera side. Check that so-called ‘untouched’ photo taken using the iPhone 4.

2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa is the 19th edition of the FIFA World Cup, which will be held in South Africa’s Cape Town Stadium, June 11 until July 11 .... , some 69,079 fans will be screaming out of their lungs to urge on their favorite team. As many of the surrounding residents voiced, they’re concern of the immersed sound coming from the stadium during the event, thus some clever engineers from Germany answered their call by integrating some marvelous design into this stadium.

The open-air stadium which sits at Cape Town’s tiny Green Point neighborhood is known as a soundproof stadium. A very weird nickname for a stadium isn’t it? But it just does as it is known. Engineers from Schlaich Bergermann placed some half-inch thick glass panels on top of the 398,265 square-foot roof, hold by some fiberglass and Teflon mesh to support the glass, forming a ring-like roof on top of the stadium. The results showed that the crowd’s roar will be reflected back onto the field, giving them the spiritual encouragement while preventing the massive roar from leaking out of the stadium

Besides acting as a sound-guiding system, the roof will also be able to shelter the fans from the infamous weather of the famous safari continent. Squeezed in-between the warm Indian Ocean, and the cold Atlantic, folks around the neighborhood jokes that 4-seasons can happen in a day.

Let’s get ready for the game to start, guys! Hopefully the stadium can withstand the notorious horns of the South African fans.

SINGAPOREANS LOVE iPAD

Apple has launched the iPad in nine more countries on May 28, including Australia, France, U.K and Japan. Apple said that it will launch the iPad in July'2010 for another nine markets, including Singapore. But in Britain, more recent orders of the iPad can be delivered only from June 7, likely due to high demand for the gadget. Britain is the largest eBay buyer of iPads from the US, based on gross sales.

Singapore is one of the most iPad-crazy countries in the world outside of the States, judging by data collected from auction website eBay.This is based on per-capita terms, and the country is the fifth-largest buyer of Apple iPad tablets from the United States – via eBay – based on sales figures posted by an eBay senior manager on technology blog The Next Web.

Singapore is ahead of other Asia-Pacific countries tracked by eBay for iPad sales from the US, namely Japan, South Korea and Australia. The top buyer of iPads from the US on a per-capita basis is Norway. Since iPad sales started in the US early last month, some enterprising iPad owners in the US have sold their gadgets on eBay. And if we are to refer to this report, the number is quite massive.

Last month, the US is the only country in the world that officially sells the iPad. Sales of the tablet there began on April 3 this year. About 5,300 iPads were sold through eBay in that period, of which nearly two in three tablets were sold to buyers outside the US.

LAND ROVER LRX

Land Rover is going to unveil the most efficient model, an ultra-frugal version of its Range Rover ‘coupé SUV’, the LRX, and is likely to be offered with some sort of hybrid powertrain this autumn. Land Rover had ruled out a front-drive variant, arguing that its brand values would be compromised by such a move. The front-drive LRX will not be available at launch; it will follow “shortly after” the four-wheel-drive variant, say Land Rover sources. The front-drive model will emit less than 130g/km of CO2, says Land Rover; four-wheel-drive LRXs will emit around 140/gkm. Although the car is widely known as the Range Rover LRX, Land Rover sources say it will be given a proper name instead of a code. Four-wheel-drive variants are likely to cost around USD$50,000, with front-drive models priced at around USD$6,900.

"Using lightweight material technologies, Land Rover has developed a series of bespoke features for the black and silver LRX that add to the vehicle's individuality and flexibility. The removable carbon composite roof panel contrasts with the silver-colored roof, and has integral anchor points for fixing snowboards and other sports equipment. The sleek black roof bars provide another option for roof-top loads, and a compact step above the rear bumper provides for easy roof-top access. More carbon composite is used for the protective underbody plates at front and rear, while new, lightweight alloy wheels with unique-design tires signal purposefulness.
